It’s National Bubble Week!
If you have kids chances are you have a stash of bubbles somewhere. I know we do! Bubbles are so versatile. They’re fun and provide entertainment for a variety of ages–both Gia and Nicholas love bubbles and have since they were little enough to blow. And they’re definitely wallet-friendly 🙂 Bubbles are an easy go-to for kids. Need something to put in a goody bag? A small container of bubbles is the perfect non-candy option. Ditto for the Easter basket or as a stocking stuffer. And grandparents usually have bubbles aplenty at their house too.
Want to know a little secret? I love bubbles too. But not that kind…this kind:
I love love love when alcohol has bubbles in it–it’s fancy! One of my favorites is Prosecco DOC. Prosecco DOC is a sparkling wine produced exclusively in East-Northern Italy. (That’s why it’s different from champagne–it’s from Italy. And anything from Italy is ok in my book!) It has a slightly fruity taste and the bubbles are soft and complimentary. It plays well with other drinks so you can mix it up and create the most delicious cocktails. This weekend give the kids some bubbles and have some bubbles of your own: Prosecco DOC!
Here are a few of my favorite Prosecco cocktails.
- 4 parts chilled IL Prosecco DOC
- 1 part Pama Liqueur
- Twist of lemon
Pour prosecco and parma into a flute glass. Garnish with twist of lemon.
- 1 oz strawberry puree
- 1⁄2 oz raspberry Vodka
- Mionetto Prosecco DOC
Fill a martini glass with strawberry puree and raspberry vodka. Top with Prosecco DOC. Garnish with a fresh strawberry slice.
(aka my all time favorite drink EVER)
- 11⁄2 oz peach puree
- Prosecco DOC
- 1⁄2 oz peach Vodka (optional)
Fill a wine glass with peach puree and peach vodka. Top with Prosecco DOC. Garnish with a fresh peach slice.
