This summer has been an adjustment for Gia. Being home, with lots of time on her hands, is tough for her. She doesn’t play as well on her own as Nick does, and she needs some more help from me when it comes to entertaining herself. She’d sit in front of the tv or iPad all day long if I let her. Thankfully we have camp and the town pool to make sure that doesn’t happen!
She also needs A LOT of transition time between activities and very very clear expectations from me, or her behavior can spiral out of control quickly. It has been a test of my patience lately, as she pushes boundaries and tests her limits (and mine).
Since necessity is the mother of invention, I created this very clear chart of our family rules. We discussed these together and came up with the consequences together (mostly). I have it hung on our fridge right now, as a visual reminder of how we should act, and what till happen if we don’t. So far, it’s working well for us.
